Mindful Every Day: 10 Phrases to Meditate On

Meditation can become a time consuming, and daunting task for some. People often express, “my mind is too busy to mediate,” or “I don’t have time to sit by myself, close my eyes, sit with my legs crossed and do nothing for 30 minutes.” Personally, if I was asked about meditation just this past January, I would have stated something similar. Guess what? There is good news… there are so many different forms of meditation and ways to be mindful!

Whether you have the time to sit and close your eyes for thirty minutes or only have five minutes to yourself to do the dishes, you CAN meditate! Some people totally clear their mind for meditation and some people concentrate on a certain mantra or phrase during mediation. People can meditate silently, (i.e. sitting still), or in “motion”, (i.e. stilling one’s mind while doing a daily task, such as washing dishes or folding laundry). I take advantage of both meditation styles because life can get crazy.

Looking for ways to be mindful and add meditation to your daily routine, but aren’t quite sure about mantras or phrases to concentrate on? During my morning routine, I make myself a cup of green tea with a little bit of agave nectar. My tea bags, (sometimes I make my own tea from herbs and sometimes I use the Yogi brand of tea), have inspirational phrases on the tags. These 10 phrases are my favorite that I have come across during my spiritual journey to becoming more mindful, (thanks, Yogi!). Check out these phrases when considering beginning a mindfulness routine of your own.

*Oh, and remember, do what works for you. Not everyone meditates the same. Ponder one of the following and what it means to you the next time you do dishes, fold laundry, mow the lawn, etc., or you can do what everyone pictures meditation to be like, (cross your legs, close your eyes, and silently meditate).

  2. Mental happiness is total relaxation.
  3. What is done today is the tomorrow.
  4. Love has no fear and no vengeance.
  5. Let your manners speak for you.
  6. If you have nothing else to give, give a smile.
  7. You will always live happy if you live with heart.
  8. Love is where compassion prevails and kindness rules.
  9. Be great, feel great, act great.
  10. Compassion has no limit. Kindness has no enemy.
